  1. Your POV piece is a very good summary of what you feel are the many negative repercussions of WWI; however, “the vanity of powerful nations, the blood lust of leaders and ordinary folk” are hardly unique to the aftermath of WWI. Do we not observe the same behaviors in ancient history as well? Humans’ innate obsession with power, control and, yes, violence has consistently shown its ugly face thousands of years ago through today. Did WWI cause these things or simply unleash the inevitable? Can you really say the world was orderly and civilized prior to WWI? I would enjoy reading a POV piece on any of the ancient civilizations. How did they amass their empires? Also, normal entertainment was forcing people to fight to their death in the arena while others cheered on. So at what point were we ever really civilized? Did WWI really change anything in that regard other than that there were more pieces on the chess board in a more populous world?
