  1. I wish I could say I was disappointed in BU, but unfortunately this outcome is completely expected. At this point the university’s actions have become reckless. If 26 cases seems like a lot, there were 31 confirmed cases yesterday for a total of 100 cases within five days. There are now 72 students in isolation. Classroom moderators assigned to faculty are in short supply because so many of them have tested positive for the virus. Almost 1% of staff has tested positive this week alone and it hasn’t been a full week since students returned to campus. There was no reason to bring students back to campus following Thanksgiving break. Other universities altered their semester schedules well in advance in order to avoid just such an outcome. The mixed messaging BU sent by ‘urging’ students to stay home without altering the semester calendar or policy is beyond stupid to the point of negligence. The inevitable impact on the greater BU community and the toll on healthcare workers make BU’s actions (or rather, inaction) reprehensible and shameful. What was the point?

    1. On BU’s COVID testing dashboard, are the reported numbers for positive tests only those that come from the asymptomatic testing sites (Agganis, 808, Kilachand, BUMC)? Where do students/employees who report COVID symptoms on their daily attestations go to get tested, and are the results and numbers from those symptomatic tests included on BU’s COVID testing dashboard? If those results are not included, then the numbers on the dashboard are an underestimate.
