#TerrierTuesdays: Hessann Farooqi (CAS’22)
Weekly social media series focuses on students who are making an impact in, and out of, the classroom
During the summer months, BU Today is revisiting some of the past year’s favorite stories. This week, we feature the weekly #TerrierTuesdays social media series, which focuses on students making an impact in, and out of, the classroom.
Born and raised in the mountains of Colorado Springs, Hessann Farooqi (CAS’22) decided it was time to experience life on the East Coast. Coming from the sleepy suburbs, Hessann wasn’t sure what to expect from a big city like Boston, but once he arrived on campus he realized there was nothing to worry about. He quickly found his footing and hasn’t looked back. He is currently an economics major with plans to go to law school or join the Peace Corps after graduation.
When he’s not focused on his studies, you can find Hessann immersed in BU’s campus life, serving as a senator in @bustudentgov, an intern at @sustainablebu, and a program manager at @buhtc. What’s more important to Hessann, however, is meeting new people. He never shies away from a potential new friend, so don’t be afraid to say hi to him on Comm Ave. In addition to his experience on campus, Hessann has volunteered on presidential and senate campaigns. He’s been able to travel to New Hampshire to talk to voters, which has been one of the favorite experiences of his college career—keep on rocking Hessann! Asked what advice he has for fellow Terriers, he said, “Register to vote! Voting is one of the most important ways to make your voice heard in our country. Get out there and do it, including in those local elections that happen at random times in the year. (@buvotes)”
