What Your Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish Says about You
Let the debates begin?
What’s the best part of Thanksgiving? The food, of course. Whether you’re celebrating on campus with friends or at home with family, we wanted to give you something to talk about around the dinner (Zoom) table. That’s why we’re doing a deep dive on your favorite Thanksgiving sides and what it says about you.
Let the debates begin.
There’s really no way to mess up potatoes. Mashed, smashed, or fried, they seem to always come out delicious. The potato-lovers are the most easygoing on the list. They’re easy to please at the dinner table—as long as you remember to include this delicious side.
We already know what you’re thinking: “Who’s favorite Thanksgiving side is bread?” The truth is, if you can’t appreciate some cornbread, then we don’t want you at the table. While not our first choice, a nice roll on Turkey Day is always welcome. If bread is number one on your list of sides, however, you probably have conservative taste buds.
If you get most excited about the Thanksgiving vegetables, you probably take things too seriously. Don’t be the person at the table who has to let everyone know how healthy they’re eating. We get it, you’re healthier than us. Now let us enjoy our gravy without shame.
Objectively speaking, the idea of stuffing is kinda gross. Bread and vegetables stuffed inside a turkey cavity—all set. But that doesn’t mean it’s not delicious. If you love stuffing, you’re probably an adventurous eater who’s not afraid to take risks.
5. Sweet Potatoes
If your favorite side is the sweet potatoes, you’re probably just here for the dessert. Sweet potato casserole is made with marshmallows—literally. And, while there’s nothing wrong with liking sweets, there’s something a little wrong about going to Thanksgiving just for dessert.
Gravy is the ketchup of the Thanksgiving table—some cover their entire meal with it, while others don’t look at it twice. Gravy fans typically enjoy extra condiments on their foods. They may not like every topping, but they definitely have their go-to.
7. Cranberry sauce
People who love cranberry sauce are just gravy fans with a sweet tooth. They love covering their food in sweet cranberry sauce for added flavor. While not quite on the level of sweet potato lovers, they still love to get an extra kick of sugar with their Thanksgiving meal.
Happy Thanksgiving, Terriers!
